Prof. (Dr.) Ranbir Singh is the former and founding Vice-Chancellor of National Law University, Delhi established by the Delhi Government in 2008. He is currently the Pro-Vice Chancellor of IILM Law School, Gurgaon. In just a short span of 12 years he has steered NLU, Delhi which has been ranked as the 2nd best law school of India in the NIRF – 2018 rankings.

With over two decades of experience in heading the law school he carries the aura of a visionary who as an outstanding statesmen and academician shown immense commitment and contribution towards changing the legal education landscape of the country. Prior to his stint in NLU, Delhi, he was the founder Vice-Chancellor of NALSAR, University of Law, established by the Andhra Pradesh Government and had been at its helm since its inception in 1998.

He has association with several national and international organisations in advisory capacities – more important among them being Executive Committee of the National Legal Services Authority, Indian Law Institute, National Police Academy, National Committee in IPR (Confederation of Indian Industries), Indian Society of International Law, Committee of Experts on Law, National Commission for Women, National Institute of Criminology and Forensic Science, DNA Profiling Advisory Committee (D-PAC), SAARCLAW India Chapter, Commonwealth Legal Education Association. He served as a member of the DNA Profiling Advisory Committee constituted by the Department of Bio-technology, Government of India to recommend a draft legislation for enactment by the Parliament. Related to this he also served as Chairperson of the Sub-Committee on Legal Issues and prepared the DNA Profiling Bill.

The author, researcher and administrator, Prof G S Bajpai currently serves as the Vice-Chancellor of National Law University, Delhi. Previously he served as the Registrar at National Law University, Delhi and Vice Chancellor of Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law, Patiala, Punjab. He was Professor of Criminology & Criminal Justice; Chair Professor at K.L Arora Chair in Criminal Law at National Law University, Delhi and also served as the Chairperson at the Centre for Criminology & Victimology. Besides having a master’s in Criminology & Criminal justice, he holds a doctorate in criminology & victimology and a post-doctorate in criminology (Lecisecter University, UK).

Prof. Bajpai held many prestigious international assignments for advanced research in criminal law and criminal justice. He was also the recipient of prestigious Commonwealth Academic Staff Fellowship at the Department of Criminology, University of Leicester, the UK for advanced research and teaching (in Crime reduction) for the year 2003-04. In 2010, Prof. Bajpai was conferred upon a visiting fellowship of ICSSR under the Indo-NWO Exchange of Scholars, and under this visit, he carried out significant research at the International Victimology Institute, Faculty of Law, the University of Tilburg in the Netherlands.

As a part of the academic collaboration, he has made significant presentations at the Centre for Criminology, the University of Oxford and the Department of Criminology & Law, Sheffield Hallam University U.K. on the issues of Post-Delhi Gang-Rape Legal Reforms and Victim Justice.

John is an experienced attorney, negotiator and public speaker skilled in the art and science of interest-based negotiation. With an A.B. in English from Harvard College and a J.D. from Harvard Law School, John trained with leaders in the negotiation field. He has worked with the Harvard Program on Negotiation addressing conflict in the Middle East over Gaza and the West Bank. He has provided negotiation and conflict resolution training to United Nations personnel at the War Crimes Tribunal for Rwanda. John has been a Visiting Professor at the National Law University, Delhi, India and at Fundação Dom Cabral University, Brazil.

John has trained and worked with business professionals and sales leaders from hundreds of organizations throughout the United States and internationally, including 3M, ABN AMRO Bank, AstraZeneca, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cadbury, Caterpillar, the CCIM Institute, Cummins, Delta Air Lines, Disney, General Mills, the Government of India, Grupo Televisa, HealthPartners, Imation, the Municipality of Dubai, Mylan Pharmaceuticals, PanAmSat, Polaroid, Schwan’s, Syngenta, Thomson Reuters, US Bank, the US State Department and GSA, the United Nations, and Xcel Energy.

​John has negotiated business deals in over 40 countries and has conducted seminars and workshops for thousands of business executives and managers, professionals, government officials and community leaders in interest-based approaches to negotiation, sales, purchasing, leadership, strategy development supply chain management, communication, project management, change management and conflict resolution. In 2002, Imation awarded John its prestigious “Chairman’s Business Turning Point Award.”

Marc Galanter is a Professor of Law Emeritus at the University of Wisconsin Law School. Previously he was the John and Rylla Bosshard Professor of Law and South Asian Studies at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and LSE Centennial Professor at the London School of Economics and Political Science. He teaches South Asian Law, Law and Social Science, Legal Profession, Religion and the Law, Contracts, Dispute Processing and Negotiations.

Professor Galanter was a Fulbright Scholar at the University of Delhi, a Fellow of the American Institute of Indian Studies and consultant on legal services to the Ford Foundation in India.

He has lectured at more than eighty universities in the United States and abroad. He has taught South Asian Law, Law and Social Science, Legal Profession, Religion and the Law, Contracts, Dispute Processing and Negotiations.

He has authored numerous books and articles related to law, the legal profession and the provision of legal services in India.

Professor Steve Ngo is an academic and practitioner of international arbitration and dispute resolution. He is the founding President of Beihai Asia International Arbitration Centre, the first international arbitral centre established by Beihai Arbitration Commission in Singapore to focus on disputes arising from China-ASEAN regional trade and investment. He is a practitioner of international arbitration and dispute resolution where he has acted as specialist and arbitrator. He also practises in the Dispute Resolution Practice Group of Aquinas Law Alliance LLP in the area of arbitration.

​

As an arbitration specialist, he is regularly sought by clients to assist in the handling of complicated disputes that requires high degree of confidentiality and discreetness.  For instance, he is currently assisting the government of a major developing country on a sensitive industry dispute. Previously, he was retained to provide guidance and advice on matters arising from the termination of a legacy contract which could have led to a multi-billion arbitration. He is also Chairman of Arbitration & International Dispute Resolution Practice Group of ASEAN Legal Alliance, a private network of law firms each of the ASEAN countries coming together to offer a seamless delivery of legal service across a diverse cultural, geographical and legal backdrop.

He has advised public and private entities not only on post-dispute matters but business negotiation, mediation and dispute management. He has been involved in oil and gas, energy, investment, joint venture, telecommunications, shipping, mining, financial services, international trade and construction.

Sukhsimranjit Singh is the Judge Danny Weinstein Managing Director of the Straus Institute for Dispute Resolution at Pepperdine University Caruso School of Law, where he also serves as Associate Professor of Law and Practice and directs the LL.M programs. Dr. Singh oversees the Institute’s global outreach efforts, world-class professional training programs, and rigorous academic curriculum. His practice, teaching, and scholarship focus on cross-cultural dispute resolution, faith-based mediation, and utilizing modern theories, science, and technology to devise creative solutions for global disputes.

​

He teaches various subjects in dispute resolution at Pepperdine, and he has previously taught at USC School of Law, Willamette University, Hamline University, as well as in India at the National Law University, where he was appointed Honorary Professor of Law, and at Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law.

​

Dr. Singh received his doctorate from National Law University, Delhi with his work on Indo-American perspectives on Dispute Resolution. Professor Singh is an Honorary Fellow at the International Academy of Mediators (IAM), Co-chair for a Committee for the American Bar Association’s (ABA) Section of Dispute Resolution, an Executive Committee Member for the American Association of Law School’s (AALS) Dispute Resolution Section, and an Executive Committee Member for the Pepperdine/Straus American Inns of Court for Dispute Resolution and serves on advisory committees for Rajiv Gandhi National Law University and Punjab University. He also serves on the board of the Weinstein International Foundation, an affiliate of JAMS International.

Prof. (Dr.) Ruhi Paul is a Professor of Law at the National Law University, Delhi  teaching courses on Civil Procedure and ADR methods. She has been teaching ADR courses both at the NALSAR, Hyderabad and at NLU, Delhi to graduate and under-graduate students since 2006. She is the Director of the Centre for ADR at NLU, Delhi since 2008.

 

She initiated a completely online six month Diploma Program in Law & Practice of Arbitration at the University. She was awarded the Research Fellowship at Asian Law Institute (ASLI), National University, Singapore in 2018-19 for research in Designing Evaluation Systems for Court Annexed Mediation Centre in India. She has presented several research papers in various national and international conferences. She has conducted workshops for training faculty members in Teaching ADR methods. She has been regularly invited for delivering lectures on ADR Methods to the Judicial Academy and to Government Departments. She has designed course modules on ADR for various organizations.

 

Her areas of interest are Alternative Dispute Resolution and Procedural Laws. She has been actively engaged in various research projects which included Sub-National Governance, Legal Assistance Programme for Land, Village Peace Makers Program among others. She has held various academic and administrative positions. She has participated in national as well as international seminars and her research papers are published in various leading journals and books.
